Learn More About College Credits
College Credit and Advanced Placement for UPI Courses
Most U.S. colleges offer credit, advanced placement, or both for qualifying UPI scores.
College Credit
Colleges often require a specific number of credits for graduation, typically 120 for a bachelor's degree. Credits represent the academic work you've completed. Many institutions grant credit for UPI courses accredited by NCCRS and ACE. For example, earning a 70+ on your Physics course could award you 8 college credits, allowing you to start college with credits already earned.
Advanced Placement
UPI Course scores can demonstrate your proficiency in certain subjects, enabling you to skip introductory or core courses. This process, known as advanced placement, lets you move directly into advanced coursework, potentially saving time and money.
Benefits of Earning Credits Early
Some students graduate early due to credits earned from UPI courses in high school, reducing tuition costs. Additionally, college credits from UPI can free up your schedule, allowing you to pursue a double major, internships, or other special programs.
Dual Benefits
In some cases, qualifying UPI scores can earn you both credit and advanced placement to next level course, providing both the credits and the ability to skip courses.
First, check with the admissions office at your new college to find out its UPI credit policy and deadlines for receiving scores. If your new college will grant credit for your UPI scores, you should send your scores through our score reporting system.
Each college sets its own policy regarding how many credits it will accept for transfer in total. Check the university website to see the limit on transfer credits. If you are not yet enrolled at a college when you take your UPI course, you can send your scores to your college when you enroll. Search institutions that accept ACE & NCCRS accredited courses to learn more about how many credits you could earn.
