Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Advanced Technical Writing is the study of how to explain information clearly in professional settings. It focuses on writing that helps people do something, understand a process, or make a decision, such as emails, memos, instructions, reports, proposals, resumes, and cover letters. The course also covers how to write for different audiences and how to handle ethical and legal issues in communication.
Advanced Technical Writing is a self-paced online course built on video lessons, with quizzes and assignments throughout and a final exam at the end. Grades are weighted 20% quizzes, 30% assignments, and 50% final exam, so the exam carries the most weight. Once you complete the course and the transcript credit posts, Dunlap-Stone University recognizes it as General Education Composition.
Clear emails, memos, instructions, and reports are used in nearly every job, and the course also covers proposals, resumes, and cover letters. At DSU, the credit counts toward general education in degrees such as the Associate of Arts: Business Administration, the Bachelor of Business Administration, and the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology. The audience analysis and source-evaluation work in the course applies to any of those programs, since each asks you to write for readers who may not share your background.
After you finish the course, your UPI Study transcript is sent to Dunlap-Stone University. DSU's registrar then applies General Education Composition to your record, which satisfies that general-education requirement in your degree plan. Up to 90 credits (75%) may transfer to DSU, so track how much of your degree this course and any other transfer work will cover before you finalize your schedule.
This course suits working adults who want a composition credit on a flexible schedule, degree-finishers who need one general education requirement filled, and career changers who want documented writing skills before entering a new field. Cost-conscious students also benefit, since three credits at DSU's $475 per-credit rate would total $1,425 if taken as enrolled coursework. It is not a good fit for students who need live instruction or a fixed class meeting time, and it is not the right choice for anyone who expects to reach the 90-credit transfer ceiling from other sources, because credits beyond that limit cannot transfer.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Dunlap-Stone University.
