Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Data Structure and Algorithms is the study of how to organize data in a computer and how to solve problems efficiently with that data. In this course, you learn Java programming along with tools like arrays, linked lists, trees, queues, stacks, and hash tables, then use them to write and analyze algorithms. The subject also includes Big-O notation, which helps you compare how fast or memory-heavy different solutions are.
Data Structure and Algorithms (CS 251) is a 3-credit, self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Quizzes count for 20% of the grade, the assignment for 30%, and the final exam for 50%, so the exam carries the most weight. Completing the course produces transcript credit that Dunlap-Stone University recognizes as General Education Technology.
The course teaches arrays, linked lists, trees, queues, stacks, and hash tables, along with Big-O notation for comparing how fast or memory-heavy a solution is. Those skills help with choosing a sensible approach to any data-heavy task, whether the work is technical or not. At Dunlap-Stone, the credit counts toward a general-education requirement in programs such as the Associate of Arts: Business Administration, the Bachelor of Business Administration, and the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Dunlap-Stone University, which is an active transfer partner of UPI Study. DSU's registrar reviews the record under the signed articulation agreement and applies General Education Technology, a general-education equivalency, to your credit. That recognition means the course satisfies a general-education requirement in your DSU degree plan, so you do not need to fill that requirement with another course. Transfer credit at DSU is capped at 90 credits, or 75% of the total, so plan the rest of your degree with that ceiling in mind.
This course suits students who want a technology requirement met on the way to a DSU degree, including working adults returning to school, students close to finishing a degree, and career changers who need a computing foundation. Because DSU accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer and charges $475 per credit, every credit that transfers is one you do not have to buy at DSU. It is not a good fit for anyone expecting a light workload, since the final exam alone is half the grade, or for anyone who needs a course that counts toward a computer science major rather than a general-education requirement.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Dunlap-Stone University.
