Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Database Fundamentals is an introduction to how data is organized, stored, and managed in computer systems. It covers the basic ideas behind databases, including tables, records, fields, relationships, SQL, and the rules used to keep data accurate and secure. The course also shows how different database designs are used in real settings, from simple relational databases to other common models.
Database Fundamentals is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, a written assignment, and a final exam. Your course grade is 20% quizzes, 30% assignments, and 50% final exam, so the final exam carries the most weight. Once you complete the course, the credit appears on your transcript, and Dunlap-Stone University (DSU) recognizes it as General Education Technology under the articulation agreement.
The course teaches you to classify data as numerical, textual, or multimedia, and to explain how tables, records, and fields hold it together. Those skills carry over to reporting in business roles and to organizing survey or research data in psychology. Because the credit counts toward a general-education requirement, it can apply to DSU's Associate of Arts: Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration, or Bachelor of Arts: Psychology, depending on how your degree plan is structured.
After you finish, your transcript is sent to DSU, and the registrar reviews it under the signed articulation agreement. DSU applies the course as General Education Technology, which satisfies a general-education requirement in your degree plan. Transfer credit at DSU is capped at 90 credits, or 75% of a degree, so this 3-credit course counts toward that ceiling along with any other transferred courses. Check with a DSU advisor before enrolling to confirm how the credit fits your specific program.
This course suits working adults who want to study on their own schedule, degree-finishers who need one more gen-ed requirement filled, and students who want to keep tuition low. At DSU's rate of $475 per credit, the 3 credits would cost $1,425 if taken at DSU directly. Because the course is recognized as a general-education credit, it will not fill a major or elective slot in most plans, and it is not a good fit for students who need hands-on programming practice or live instruction.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
