Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Introduction to Networking is a course about how computers and other devices connect, communicate, and share data. It covers the basic ideas behind networks such as LANs, WANs, WLANs, and VPNs, along with the standards and protocols that let information move reliably across them. You also learn how the Internet works at a basic level, including IP addressing, DNS, routing, and the OSI and TCP/IP models.
The course is self-paced and fully online, so you work through video lessons on your own schedule and complete the quizzes, the assignments, and a final exam. Your grade combines 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. When you finish with a passing record, the resulting 3-credit transcript entry is what Dunlap-Stone University reviews and recognizes as General Education Technology.
The course gives you a working picture of how LANs, WANs, WLANs, and VPNs connect devices, how IP addressing, DNS, and routing move data, and how the OSI and TCP/IP models organize those steps. Those skills matter in many office and remote-work settings, where people regularly troubleshoot connections or evaluate network options. At DSU, the 3 credits can count toward a general education requirement in programs such as the Associate of Arts: Business Administration, the Bachelor of Business Administration, and the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology.
After you complete the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to DSU, and DSU's registrar reviews it under the signed articulation agreement. The registrar applies the course as General Education Technology, a general-education equivalency that satisfies a gen-ed requirement in your undergraduate degree. You can check how that requirement fits into your specific degree plan with a DSU advisor before enrolling. Transfer credit from all partner sources is capped at 90 credits, which is 75% of the degree, so this course counts toward that ceiling, and at DSU's rate of $475 per credit, the 3 credits carry a tuition value of $1,425.
This course suits working adults who want a technical credit that counts toward a DSU degree without needing a classroom schedule, as well as degree-finishers who need a general education technology requirement filled and career changers testing whether networking interests them. Students who want a lab-based or hands-on hardware course should look elsewhere, since this one is a conceptual introduction. Because DSU accepts up to 90 transferred credits (75% of a degree), this course is one of several options, and students who have already used most of that allowance should check their remaining room before enrolling.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Dunlap-Stone University.
