Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Network and Systems Security is the study of how computer networks, devices, and data are protected from unauthorized access, misuse, and disruption. It covers the basic ideas behind security threats, encryption, authentication, firewalls, wireless security, and tools such as VPNs and intrusion detection systems. Students learn how these pieces work together to keep information and systems reliable and secure.
Network and Systems Security (CS 252) is a 3-credit, self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Your grade is weighted 25% attendance, 25% quizzes, 25% assignments, and 25% final exam. When you complete the course and the transcript shows it, that credit can be applied at Dunlap-Stone University as General Education Technology, a general-education equivalency that satisfies a gen-ed requirement.
The course covers threats, encryption, authentication, firewalls, wireless security, VPNs, and intrusion detection, and it asks you to configure and evaluate those tools. Those skills are useful in almost any office that handles customer records, payments, or internal files. Because this credit lands as a gen-ed technology requirement, it fits most naturally in DSU's Associate of Arts: Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Bachelor of Arts: Psychology programs, where it can count toward the general-education portion of your degree.
After you finish the course, your official transcript from UPI Study is sent to Dunlap-Stone University. DSU's registrar reviews it under the articulation agreement and applies the credit as General Education Technology, which satisfies a gen-ed requirement in your degree plan. Your DSU advisor can confirm how that requirement fits into your specific program, such as the Associate of Arts: Business Administration or the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology. Transfer credit from UPI Study may total up to 90 credits, which is 75% of a degree, so keep that ceiling in mind as you plan the rest of your coursework.
This course suits working adults who want a technology credit that is quick to fit around a job, degree-finishers who need one more gen-ed requirement filled, and career changers who want a first look at security concepts before committing to a larger program. Cost-conscious students also benefit, since transferred credit reduces how many credits you pay for at DSU's $475 per-credit rate, up to the transfer limit of 90 credits. It is not a good fit if you need a technical elective for a computer science major, because at DSU it is recognized as a general-education equivalency rather than a major course. It also won't suit you if you prefer live, instructor-led classes, since the format is self-paced.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Dunlap-Stone University.
