Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Principles of Finance is the study of how money is used, valued, and managed in business decisions. It covers how companies raise and spend capital, how to read financial statements, and how to judge whether an investment or project is worth pursuing. The course also introduces the basic tools used to compare future and present value, risk, and return.
Principles of Finance is a self-paced online course built from video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Quizzes make up 20% of the grade, assignments 30%, and the final exam 50%, so the final exam carries the most weight. Once you complete the course, the 3-credit transcript record is what Dunlap-Stone University reviews for its named equivalency to FIN-300 – Business Finance or FIN-302 – Global Finance.
The course covers time value of money, reading financial statements, and comparing projects with NPV and IRR, skills that apply to budgeting, pricing, and judging loans or investments. At DSU, the credit can count toward the Associate of Arts: Business Administration and the Bachelor of Business Administration, where the finance content connects directly to business coursework. Students in the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology can also apply the credit, with its placement determined by the category DSU assigns it in Appendix 1.
After you finish Principles of Finance, your transcript is sent to Dunlap-Stone University. The DSU registrar applies the credit as FIN-300 – Business Finance or FIN-302 – Global Finance, a named course equivalency that matches a specific catalog course rather than a general credit. Under the articulation agreement, that match allows the credit to satisfy the corresponding course in your DSU degree plan, so confirm with an advisor which code is applied to your record. Transfer is limited to 90 credits (75%), so keep a running count of all partner credits you bring in.
This course suits students who want a finance credit on a DSU transcript at the university's $475 per-credit rate, including working adults finishing a degree and people moving into business from another field. Because DSU recognizes it as FIN-300 or FIN-302, it can fill a named catalog requirement rather than only a general elective slot, though total transfer is capped at 90 credits (75%), so it should be planned alongside any other transfer work. It is not a good fit for students who need a live instructor, a fixed class schedule, or who want to skip the quizzes and exams that determine the grade.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Dunlap-Stone University.
