Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Principles of Marketing is the study of how businesses understand customer needs and turn that understanding into products, pricing, promotion, and distribution decisions. It covers how markets are segmented, how buyers make decisions, how organizations buy, and how outside factors such as law, ethics, global markets, and technology affect marketing choices.
Principles of Marketing is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Quizzes count for 20% of the grade, assignments for 30%, and the final exam for 50%, so the exam carries the most weight. When you complete the course, the 3 credits transfer to Dunlap-Stone University, which recognizes them as a Business Elective equivalency.
The course teaches how businesses identify customer needs and turn that understanding into decisions about products, pricing, promotion, and distribution. Those skills carry over to sales, retail, marketing support roles, and running a small business. At DSU, the credit fills elective space in programs such as the Associate of Arts: Business Administration, the Bachelor of Business Administration, and the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology, where its consumer behavior content is a natural fit.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Dunlap-Stone University. DSU's registrar applies the credit as Business Elective, which counts toward your total credit hours and your elective requirements. Because it is an elective equivalency, it will not satisfy a named required course, so check your degree audit to see which elective slots it fills. Up to 90 credits (75%) may transfer to DSU, so keep that ceiling in mind as you plan the rest of your coursework.
This course suits working adults who want a business credit they can complete on their own schedule, degree-finishers who need a few more elective hours, and career changers who want to test whether marketing interests them before committing to a full sequence. Cost-conscious students also benefit, since at DSU's rate of $475 per credit, 3 credits represent $1,425 in tuition value. It is not the right choice for students who need a specific required marketing course in their major, because DSU treats it as an elective equivalency rather than a named course or general education requirement. Those students should confirm their requirements with DSU advising before enrolling.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
