Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Programming in Python is an introduction to writing instructions that a computer can follow. In this course, students learn Python syntax, how to work with data, make decisions with code, repeat tasks with loops, and organize programs with functions and modules. It also covers basic problem-solving ideas used in computer science, such as search, sorting, and recursion.
Students complete the self-paced online course on their own schedule, working through video lessons on Python syntax, data handling, decision structures, loops, functions, and modules. Quizzes make up 20% of the grade, assignments 30%, and a final exam 50%, so steady work across the term matters more than a single test. Finishing the course produces the 3-credit transcript entry that Dunlap-Stone University recognizes as General Education Technology.
Reading and writing small programs builds skills in working with data, making decisions in code, and breaking a problem into steps, all of which carry into office, analysis, and research work. At Dunlap-Stone, the credit lands as General Education Technology, so it can count toward a general-education requirement in programs such as the Associate of Arts: Business Administration, the Bachelor of Business Administration, or the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology. Students in those programs get a technology-focused course that also moves them toward their degree.
Once you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Dunlap-Stone University. DSU's registrar then applies the General Education Technology equivalency under the articulation agreement, which means the course satisfies a gen-ed requirement in your degree plan. Confirm with a DSU advisor exactly how that requirement fits your chosen program, since the mapping is set by Appendix 1. Transfer credit at DSU is capped at 90 credits, or 75% of a degree, so this 3-credit course uses part of that allowance.
This course suits adults who already have some college credit and want a lower-cost route to a DSU degree, since each transferred credit avoids the $475 per-credit rate at DSU. Career changers who want a first look at programming will find the material a workable starting point if they can keep a regular study pace on their own. It is not a good fit for students who need a course that counts toward a specific computer science major sequence, because DSU recognizes this course as general education, and it is not suited to anyone who needs live, instructor-led classes.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Dunlap-Stone University.
