Savings estimate = credits × $475, DSU's undergraduate rate of $1,425 per 3-credit course (2026-2027 Academic Catalog). Under the articulation agreement DSU does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to DSU's registrar review and policy.
Software Engineering is the study of how software is planned, built, tested, and maintained in an organized way. It covers the methods used to turn a problem or set of requirements into a working program, including how teams gather needs, design the system, choose a development process, and check that the result works as intended.
The course is self-paced and online, with video lessons, quizzes, one assignment, and a final exam. Grades are weighted 20% for quizzes, 30% for the assignment, and 50% for the final exam, so the exam carries the most weight. Once you complete it, the resulting transcript credit is what Dunlap-Stone University recognizes as General Education Technology.
Software Engineering teaches how to gather requirements, design a system, pick a development process, and test whether the result does what it should. Those habits carry over into any role that involves managing projects or working with technical teams. At DSU, the credit counts toward general education in programs such as the Associate of Arts: Business Administration, the Bachelor of Business Administration, and the Bachelor of Arts: Psychology, so it fills a requirement without taking a slot in your major coursework.
After you finish, UPI Study sends your transcript to Dunlap-Stone University. DSU's registrar then applies General Education Technology to your record, which satisfies a general-education requirement in your degree plan. Your advisor can confirm where the credit fits in your specific program. DSU accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer, so this course counts toward that ceiling along with any other transferred credit.
This course suits working adults who want to finish a DSU degree at a lower cost, degree-finishers who need a general-education technology requirement filled, and career changers who want a structured look at how software gets built. Because DSU recognizes the credit as a general-education equivalency, it counts toward a requirement that might otherwise cost more to complete, within the transfer limits. It is not a good fit for anyone expecting a hands-on programming course, since the material concerns methods and process rather than writing code in a particular language.
Dunlap-Stone University recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the DSU course, general education category or elective credit Appendix 1 assigns it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at DSU in good standing and meet course and program requirements. DSU is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Dunlap-Stone University.
