Savings estimate uses Gracelyn University's $88.80/credit undergraduate tuition (2026-2027 catalog; $44 with Gracelyn's institutional scholarship). Gracelyn accepts up to 60 transfer credits into a bachelor's and 30 into an associate degree, for courses with a C- or better that fit the program. Final credit awards are determined by Gracelyn University.
Intro to Biology 1 is an introduction to how living things are built, how they work, and how scientists study them. It covers the basic chemistry of life, cells, energy use, genetics, and the processes that allow organisms to grow, reproduce, and respond to their environment.
Intro to Biology 1 is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, an assignment set, and a final exam. Quizzes count for 20% of the grade, assignments for 30%, and the final exam for 50%, so the exam carries the most weight. Once you finish with a passing grade that meets Gracelyn's C- minimum, the transcript credit is what Gracelyn recognizes as BIOL 1308 – Biology for Non-Science Majors.
The course teaches you how living systems are organized, how cells use energy, and how genetics and the scientific method work. Those are useful for reading health and environmental news, evaluating claims about biotechnology, and thinking through research data at work. At Gracelyn, the credit counts toward programs such as the Associate of Science in Transformational Education (ATED) and the Bachelor of Science in Transformational Education (BTED), where it can cover a general science requirement if your degree plan includes one.
After you complete the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Gracelyn. Gracelyn's registrar then applies the credit as BIOL 1308 – Biology for Non-Science Majors, a named equivalency listed in the catalog. Confirm with an advisor that this course fills the science requirement in your specific program, since the credit must also fit your degree. Gracelyn accepts up to 60 transfer credits, so track how much of that limit this course and any other transferred work will use.
This course suits adults who are returning to school, finishing a degree they started, or changing careers into education-related work, especially those who want to keep costs down by earning credit before enrolling. Because Gracelyn recognizes it as BIOL 1308 – Biology for Non-Science Majors and not as a lab-based science major course, it fits students in non-science programs better than students planning a biology or pre-health track. Keep in mind that transfer is capped at 60 credits (50% of a degree), so this course is one part of a larger plan rather than a substitute for it.
Gracelyn University is DEAC-accredited and names the Gracelyn course for each UPI Study course on its list, pathway by pathway. Transfer credit needs the equivalent of a C- or better and must fit the program.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Gracelyn University.
