Savings estimate uses Gracelyn University's $88.80/credit undergraduate tuition (2026-2027 catalog; $44 with Gracelyn's institutional scholarship). Gracelyn accepts up to 60 transfer credits into a bachelor's and 30 into an associate degree, for courses with a C- or better that fit the program. Final credit awards are determined by Gracelyn University.
Microeconomics is the study of how individuals, households, and businesses make choices when resources are limited. It focuses on topics like supply and demand, prices, consumer behavior, production costs, and how markets respond to government rules, taxes, and competition. In this course, you learn how these decisions shape everyday markets such as labor, goods, and financial services.
Microeconomics is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Your grade combines quizzes (20%), assignments (30%), and the final exam (50%), so the exam carries the most weight. Once you pass with the grade Gracelyn requires, the 3-credit transcript entry is what Gracelyn matches to ECON 2301 – Principles of Microeconomics (Early Childhood, Elementary), or to ECON 2301 – Principles of Microeconomics or ECON 2302 – Principles of Macroeconomics (Secondary ELAR, Secondary Mathematics, Secondary Science, Secondary Social Studies).
The course teaches you to reason about scarcity, prices, and how markets respond to taxes, competition, and government rules. Those skills show up in budgeting decisions, reading news about labor and prices, and explaining why a policy change affects a classroom, a district, or a local employer. At Gracelyn, the credit counts toward the Associate of Science in Transformational Education (ATED) and the Bachelor of Science in Transformational Education (BTED), so the knowledge also supports coursework in those degree plans.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Gracelyn, and the registrar applies the credit against the equivalency listed for your pathway. For early childhood and elementary students, that equivalency is ECON 2301 – Principles of Microeconomics. For secondary students, it is ECON 2301 or ECON 2302, which means your degree plan may accept either course depending on your certification area. Transfer credit must earn at least a C- and fit your program, and no more than 60 credits (50%) can transfer toward your Gracelyn degree. Gracelyn is DEAC-accredited, and its published per-credit rate is $88.8.
This course suits students who want to move toward a Gracelyn degree without repeating introductory economics on campus, especially those in the teacher-preparation pathways. Early childhood and elementary students receive the ECON 2301 Microeconomics equivalency, while secondary students in ELAR, mathematics, science, or social studies can use either ECON 2301 or ECON 2302 Macroeconomics. Keep the 60-credit transfer ceiling (50%) in mind when planning how much of your degree this course will cover. It is not a good fit if you need a grade below C- to satisfy your plan, if your intended pathway is not one of those listed, or if you need credit that does not fit your program, since Gracelyn requires that transferred credit fit the program you are in.
Gracelyn University is DEAC-accredited and names the Gracelyn course for each UPI Study course on its list, pathway by pathway. Transfer credit needs the equivalent of a C- or better and must fit the program.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
