Business Ethics studies how people should make decisions in business when legal rules, company goals, and moral responsibilities do not always point in the same direction. It looks at questions such as fair treatment at work, honest advertising, corporate responsibility, consumer rights, and how businesses affect society and the environment.
Business 211 is a self-paced online course. You work through video lessons on your own schedule, complete quizzes along the way, and submit one assignment before sitting for a final exam. Quizzes count for 20% of the grade, the assignment for 30%, and the final exam for 50%, so the exam carries the most weight. Completing the course produces the transcript credit that TESU recognizes as PHI-3840 – Ethics and the Business Professional.
The course trains you to work through cases where legal rules, company targets, and personal duty pull in different directions. You practice applying deontology, utilitarianism, virtue ethics, and rights-based reasoning to problems like fair treatment at work, honest advertising, and supplier decisions. At TESU, this credit can count toward an Associate of Arts or a Bachelor of Arts, so the reasoning you build here carries into a degree you can use in your career.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to TESU, where the registrar reviews it and applies the credit as PHI-3840 – Ethics and the Business Professional. Because this is a named course equivalency tied to a specific catalog code, the credit posts to that course rather than sitting as unassigned transfer credit, so it can go directly into your TESU degree plan. Transfer credit is capped at 90 credits (75%) toward a TESU degree, so plan the rest of your coursework with that ceiling in mind. Confirm the final placement with a TESU advisor, since your own transcript and program requirements determine how the credit is used.
This course suits students who already have some college credit and want to finish a TESU degree without repeating material they have covered before, including working adults who need to study around a job. Because the credit is recognized as a named equivalency, PHI-3840, rather than as general elective credit, it can be placed in a specific slot in a degree plan. Cost-conscious students should keep the numbers in view: transfer credit is capped at 90 credits (75%), and TESU's own courses run $449 per credit. It is not a good fit for someone who needs structured, instructor-led class meetings or who expects to build ethical reasoning mainly through live group discussion.
Thomas Edison State University has one of the most flexible transfer policies in the country and accepts ACE & NCCRS credit recommendations. With a four-year institution's credits, you can fulfill all degree requirements except two required TESU courses.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
