Savings estimate = credits × $360, Woodmont's published undergraduate per-credit tuition (new.woodmontcollege.edu/tuition-and-fees). Under the articulation agreement Woodmont does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to Woodmont's review and policy.
Data Structure and Algorithms is the study of how to organize data in a computer and how to solve problems efficiently with that data. In this course, you learn Java programming along with tools like arrays, linked lists, trees, queues, stacks, and hash tables, then use them to write and analyze algorithms. The subject also includes Big-O notation, which helps you compare how fast or memory-heavy different solutions are.
You work through the course online at your own pace, starting with video lessons and then completing quizzes and a programming assignment before the final exam. Your grade is weighted 20% quizzes, 30% assignment, and 50% final exam, so the exam carries the most weight. Once you complete the course, the resulting transcript entry is what Woodmont recognizes as a General Elective, and the three credits count toward your total hours and elective requirements.
The course trains you to choose a data structure that fits a problem and to judge how quickly a solution will run, using Big-O notation to compare options. Those habits apply to any work that involves software, data handling, or troubleshooting code. At Woodmont, the credit lands as a General Elective in programs such as the BS in Technology, BS in Business, or BS in Psychology, where it fills elective slots rather than a named core course. The skills are a benefit on top of the degree, not a substitute for its required content.
After you finish the course, the transcript is sent from UPI Study to Woodmont College. Woodmont's registrar applies the credit as a General Elective, which counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements in your degree plan. Woodmont allows up to 84 transfer credits, which is 70% of the total, and that limit applies to all transfer credit combined. Check your Woodmont degree audit after the credit posts to confirm how it is applied to your program.
This course fits adults returning to finish a degree, people changing into technical work, and students who want to lower their tuition bill. At Woodmont's rate of $360 per credit, three transferred credits represent $1,080 in tuition that you do not need to pay for those hours. Because Woodmont accepts the course only as a General Elective, it is a poor choice if you need a specific computer science course to satisfy a major requirement. It is also a poor fit if you are not prepared for a programming-heavy course where the final exam is half the grade.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
