Savings estimate = credits × $360, Woodmont's published undergraduate per-credit tuition (new.woodmontcollege.edu/tuition-and-fees). Under the articulation agreement Woodmont does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to Woodmont's review and policy.
Database Fundamentals is an introduction to how data is organized, stored, and managed in computer systems. It covers the basic ideas behind databases, including tables, records, fields, relationships, SQL, and the rules used to keep data accurate and secure. The course also shows how different database designs are used in real settings, from simple relational databases to other common models.
Database Fundamentals (CS 281, 3 credits) is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Your grade is weighted 20% quizzes, 30% assignments, and 50% final exam, so the proctored exam carries the most weight and steady work on quizzes and assignments protects your standing. When you complete the course and your transcript is sent to Woodmont, the 3 credits post as a General Elective equivalency under Woodmont's articulation agreement with UPI Study.
The course covers tables, records, fields, relationships, SQL, and normalization, along with how data integrity and security are maintained. Those skills apply directly to work that involves customer lists, inventory, survey results, or any other organized data. At Woodmont, the credit counts toward total hours and elective requirements in programs such as the BS in Technology, BS in Business, and BS in Psychology, so the knowledge can support a degree you are already pursuing. Students in business and psychology will find that understanding how records are structured helps when they read reports or manage research data.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your official transcript to Woodmont College. Woodmont's registrar then applies the General Elective equivalency that Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign to CS 281, which means the 3 credits count toward your total credit hours and elective requirements. Because it is an elective equivalency rather than a named course, it will fill an open elective position in your degree plan, including programs such as the BS in Technology, BS in Business, or BS in Psychology. Woodmont allows up to 84 credits (70%) to transfer, so this course counts toward that ceiling along with any other transfer credit you bring.
This course suits adults who want a working understanding of databases without committing to a full technical sequence, and students who are closing out a Woodmont degree and need a few more elective hours. Because the credit is recognized as a General Elective, it fills open elective slots rather than a required course in your major, so check your degree audit before enrolling. Transfer credit is capped at 84 credits, or 70% of the degree, so you should confirm how much room you have left if you have already accumulated other transfer work. The course is not a good fit for students who need a hands-on programming course or a major-specific requirement, since it will not satisfy those.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Woodmont College.
