Savings estimate = credits × $360, Woodmont's published undergraduate per-credit tuition (new.woodmontcollege.edu/tuition-and-fees). Under the articulation agreement Woodmont does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to Woodmont's review and policy.
Introduction to Linux is a course about how the Linux operating system works, where it came from, and how people use it on computers, servers, and virtual machines. It covers both the ideas behind Linux, such as its history and open-source community, and the practical tasks involved in using it, like working with files, managing software, and using the command line.
The course is self-paced and fully online. You work through video lessons, complete quizzes and an assignment, and sit for a final exam. Your grade is weighted 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. Completing the course produces a 3-credit entry on your UPI Study transcript, which Woodmont recognizes as a General Elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
Working through Linux teaches you to install an operating system, manage user accounts, and move around the system with the command line, skills that show up in technical support, server work, and many everyday computing tasks. At Woodmont, the credit lands as a general elective, so in a BS in Technology it fits naturally alongside your technical coursework. In a BS in Business or BS in Psychology it fills an elective slot, and the benefit is mainly the practical computing familiarity you carry into your career.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Woodmont College. Woodmont's registrar applies the General Elective equivalency to your record, and the 3 credits count toward total credit hours and your elective requirements in your degree plan. Woodmont does not assign this course to a specific major requirement, so your advisor can confirm where the credit fits within your program. Transfer credit from UPI Study is capped at 84 credits (70%) of your total, so this course uses part of that allowance.
This course suits working adults, people finishing a degree, career changers, and students who want to keep tuition costs down, since each transferred credit reduces the number of Woodmont credits you pay for at $360 per credit. Because Woodmont recognizes it only as a General Elective and transfer is capped at 84 credits, it is best for students who need elective hours rather than a specific required course. It is not a good fit for anyone who needs a scheduled, instructor-led class or who expects this course to replace a particular required course in their Woodmont program.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Woodmont College.
