Introduction to Psychology is the study of how people think, feel, learn, and behave. It covers the main ideas and methods psychologists use to understand topics such as memory, development, sensation, consciousness, emotion, motivation, and mental health. You also learn how psychology developed as a field and how researchers study behavior and mental processes.
Introduction to Psychology is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Quizzes count for 20% of the grade, assignments for 30%, and the final exam for 50%, so the exam carries the most weight. When you pass the course, your transcript shows the credit, and Woodmont College recognizes that credit as PSYC101X – Intro to Psychology.
The course teaches you to read psychology research critically, explain how the nervous system shapes behavior, and apply learning theories to everyday situations. Those skills carry into the BS in Business, where understanding motivation and decision-making helps with managing people, and into the BS in Technology, where user behavior and learning principles inform design and training work. Students in the BS in Psychology will find this credit lays groundwork for the upper-level courses that follow.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Woodmont College. Woodmont's registrar then applies the credit as PSYC101X – Intro to Psychology, a named course equivalency that matches a specific course in the Woodmont catalog. This is the strongest form of recognition, so the credit should appear as an identified course on your record rather than as unassigned elective hours. Your transfer total at Woodmont cannot exceed 84 credits, which is 70% of the degree, so count this course against that ceiling as you plan the rest of your program. Check with your advisor to confirm where PSYC101X fits in your specific degree plan.
This course suits adults who are returning to finish a degree, people switching into a new field, and students who want to lower the cost of their Woodmont degree. At Woodmont's rate of $360 per credit, a 3-credit course represents $1,080 in tuition that you do not have to pay again. Because the course maps to a named equivalency, the credit lands in a specific course code instead of a general placeholder. Transfer is capped at 84 credits, or 70% of the degree, so this course works best for students who still have room under that limit. It is not a good fit if you need a Woodmont-taught course with live instruction or if you have already used most of your transfer allowance.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Woodmont College.
