Savings estimate = credits × $360, Woodmont's published undergraduate per-credit tuition (new.woodmontcollege.edu/tuition-and-fees). Under the articulation agreement Woodmont does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to Woodmont's review and policy.
Introduction to Sociology is the study of how people live together in groups, how social rules and institutions shape behavior, and why societies develop patterns such as inequality, deviance, and cultural differences. It looks at everyday life through a social lens, asking how family, school, work, government, race, gender, and other forces influence individual choices and opportunities.
Introduction to Sociology is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, with quizzes and an assignment along the way and a final exam at the end. Grades are weighted 20% quizzes, 30% assignments, and 50% final exam, so the final carries the most weight. Once your transcript shows the 3 credits, Woodmont College recognizes the course as Social Awareness & Responsibility (Competence & Connection), a general-education equivalency.
The course examines how families, schools, workplaces, and government shape the choices people make and the opportunities open to them. That perspective applies to management, human resources, client-facing work, and community roles. At Woodmont, the credit satisfies a general-education requirement, so it can count toward degree programs such as the BS in Business, BS in Technology, and BS in Psychology without occupying an open elective slot.
After you complete the course, your transcript is sent to Woodmont College. Woodmont's registrar then applies the equivalency Social Awareness & Responsibility (Competence & Connection), which satisfies a general-education requirement in your degree plan. Confirm with your Woodmont advisor which requirement your program assigns it to before you register for other courses. Transfer credit at Woodmont is capped at 84 credits, or 70% of the degree, and this course counts toward that limit.
This course suits students who are finishing a Woodmont degree and need a general-education requirement filled, including working adults who study around existing jobs and career changers who want a broader foundation. At $360 per credit, the three credits represent $1,080 in Woodmont tuition that the transfer can help you avoid, which matters to cost-conscious students. Because the credit fills a general-education requirement, it is most useful to students whose degree plans still include one; students who need sociology-specific coursework should check with an advisor first. It is not a good fit for anyone who needs a set class schedule or in-person instruction.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
