Business Math is the use of everyday mathematics in business settings. It covers topics like percentages, fractions, decimals, graphs, equations, probability, statistics, and basic financial calculations such as interest, depreciation, and installment purchases. The goal is to help you understand and solve the kinds of numerical problems that come up in business and personal finance.
Business Math is a self-paced online course, so you move through the video lessons on your own schedule and show your progress through quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Your grade is built from four equal parts: 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. When you complete the course, the resulting transcript credit is eligible for transfer to Woodmont, which recognizes it as Math Requirement — non-CS majors (Systems & Solutions).
The course covers the calculations people run into at work and at home: percentages, discounts, interest, depreciation, installment purchases, and property tax. At Woodmont, the credit fills a general-education math slot, so it can count toward a BS in Business or a BS in Psychology without adding a separate math course to your plan. The statistics units on central tendency, dispersion, and normal distribution are especially useful in a psychology program, where you will read data-heavy research and need to judge what the numbers actually show.
After you finish Business Math, UPI Study sends your official transcript to Woodmont College, which is an active transfer partner under a signed articulation agreement. Woodmont's registrar then applies the equivalency Math Requirement — non-CS majors (Systems & Solutions) to your record. Because the course is recognized as a general-education requirement, it should be reflected as satisfying a gen-ed math requirement in your Woodmont degree plan, which frees space for your major courses. Woodmont accepts up to 84 transfer credits, which is 70% of a degree, so keep track of how much transfer work you bring in alongside this course.
This course suits adults who are returning to finish a degree, people changing careers who need a practical math foundation, and students who want to keep tuition down. At Woodmont's rate of $360 per credit, a 3-credit course represents $1,080 in tuition that you do not have to pay again, and the general-education recognition means it does real work in your degree plan. It is not the right choice for students who need a live, instructor-led class with fixed meeting times, for students whose major requires a computer science math sequence, since the Woodmont equivalency applies to non-CS majors, or for anyone who needs a calculus-level course. Transfer credit is capped at 84 credits, or 70% of the degree, so this course counts against that limit along with any other transferred work.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
