Principles of Marketing is the study of how businesses understand customer needs and turn that understanding into products, pricing, promotion, and distribution decisions. It covers how markets are segmented, how buyers make decisions, how organizations buy, and how outside factors such as law, ethics, global markets, and technology affect marketing choices.
Principles of Marketing is a self-paced online course, so you work through the video lessons on your own schedule. Your grade combines quizzes (20%), assignments (30%), and a final exam (50%), so the exam carries the most weight and the earlier work prepares you for it. Once you complete the course, the transcript credit it produces is recognized by Woodmont College as a General Elective equivalency.
The course teaches you to work out what customers need and to make product, pricing, promotion, and distribution decisions based on that understanding, skills that apply whether you are launching a product or managing a team. At Woodmont, the 3 credits count toward total credit hours and elective requirements, so they can fill elective space in programs such as the BS in Business or BS in Psychology, where market reasoning and consumer behavior are relevant. The same credit also counts toward the BS in Technology, giving you a business-side course alongside technical study.
After you finish Principles of Marketing, your transcript is sent to Woodmont College. Woodmont's registrar then applies the course as a General Elective under the articulation agreement, and it counts toward your total credit hours and elective requirements. Because the credit is an elective, its exact placement depends on your degree plan in a program such as the BS in Technology, BS in Business, or BS in Psychology. Woodmont accepts up to 84 transfer credits (70%) toward a degree, and this course counts within that limit.
This course suits students who want three more credit hours toward a Woodmont degree and would rather fill elective space with a practical business subject than an unrelated one. Working adults, degree-finishers, and career changers who want business fundamentals without committing to a full major tend to get the most from it. It is not a fit for anyone expecting a required course in their major, since Woodmont recognizes it only as a General Elective, and students close to the transfer ceiling should confirm how it fits, because up to 84 credits (70%) may transfer.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Woodmont College.
