Savings estimate = credits × $360, Woodmont's published undergraduate per-credit tuition (new.woodmontcollege.edu/tuition-and-fees). Under the articulation agreement Woodmont does not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. Credit awards are subject to Woodmont's review and policy.
System Analysis and Design is the study of how to understand a business or software problem, gather requirements, and plan a system that solves it. It focuses on the steps used to move from a need or idea to a working system, including analysis, modeling, design, and testing different development approaches such as Agile, spiral, iterative, and V-shaped methods.
The course is self-paced and online. You work through video lessons, complete quizzes and assignments, and finish with a final exam, and each of those pieces carries weight: 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. Once you pass, the 3-credit course appears on your transcript, and Woodmont College recognizes that credit as a General Elective under its articulation agreement with UPI Study.
The course covers how to turn a business need or software problem into a working system: gathering requirements, building UML, data flow, and use case diagrams, and comparing Agile, spiral, iterative, and V-shaped development methods. Those skills carry over to project work in many roles, and they fit naturally into Woodmont's BS in Technology and BS in Business, where a General Elective can count toward the credit hours those degrees require. Students in the BS in Psychology may find the structured approach to requirements and stakeholder needs useful as well.
After you complete the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Woodmont College. Woodmont's registrar reviews it and applies the course as a General Elective, which means it counts toward your total credit hours and your elective requirements. Ask an advisor how that elective fits your specific degree plan in the BS in Technology, BS in Business, or BS in Psychology. Keep in mind that Woodmont accepts up to 84 credits (70%) in transfer, so this course counts toward that ceiling along with any other transferred credit.
This course suits people who want to move through a Woodmont degree with fewer remaining courses, including adults returning to finish a degree, people changing careers into IT or operations, and students who want to keep costs down by applying credit they have already earned. Because Woodmont treats it as a General Elective, it counts toward elective requirements and total hours, but it will not satisfy a specific required course in your major, so check your degree plan first. Transfer credit is capped at 84 credits (70%) at Woodmont, so you need to plan how much of your degree you bring in this way. It is not the right choice if you need a course that is specifically required for your program, or if you are looking for hands-on programming instruction rather than analysis and design concepts.
Woodmont College recognizes UPI Study courses for credit in its undergraduate degrees under the signed articulation agreement. Each course below has the Woodmont course, general education requirement or general elective Woodmont's equivalency sheets assign it.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Students must be enrolled at Woodmont in good standing and meet course and program requirements. Woodmont is solely responsible for how it recognizes UPI Study courses.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Woodmont College.
