FAQ

Common Questions Answered.

Everything you need to know about UPI Study credits and how they transfer to Maestro University.

Is Bottega University the same as Maestro University?
Yes — Bottega University is now known as Maestro University. The school rebranded in 2026. The Articulation Agreement UPI Study signed on March 17, 2025 (under the Bottega University name) carries over to Maestro University, so every course equivalency on this page still applies.
Does Maestro University officially accept UPI Study credits?
Yes. Maestro University and UPI Study signed a formal Articulation Agreement on March 17, 2025, signed by Tim Harrington, EdD (then President/CEO of Bottega University, now Maestro University) and Manit Kaushal (CTO of UPI Study). Under it, Maestro recognizes UPI Study's ACE & NCCRS-recommended courses for transfer credit toward its undergraduate degrees. The equivalency table above shows how each course maps.
Is UPI Study an official partner of Maestro University?
Yes — UPI Study and Maestro University are official articulation partners. The agreement remains in effect for a renewable three-year term and enables students to earn ACE & NCCRS-recommended credits through UPI Study and apply them directly to Maestro undergraduate programs.
Which Maestro course codes can I earn through UPI Study?
Many UPI Study courses map to specific Maestro courses, including:

Business: BA205 (Principles of Management), BA210 (Organizational Behavior), BA220 (Principles of Marketing), BA235 (Business Statistics), BA252 (New Venture Creation), BA271 (Macroeconomics), BA272 (Microeconomics), BA280 (Accounting), BA356 (HR Management), BA375 (Ethical Decision Making), BA420 (Business Law), BA425 (Finance), BA436 (International Business), BA490 (Project Management)

General Education: EN115 (Technical Writing), GS150 (General Biology), GS210 (Earth Science), PY141 (General Psychology), SO241 (General Sociology), MA125 (College Algebra)

Courses without a direct match transfer as General Elective credit.
What's the difference between ACE and NCCRS credit recommendations?
ACE (American Council on Education) and NCCRS (National College Credit Recommendation Service) are nationally recognized bodies that evaluate non-traditional learning and recommend college credit. UPI Study courses carry recommendations from one or both — the same standard used for CLEP, DSST, and military training credit.
Will Maestro University charge tuition for UPI Study credits it recognizes?
No. Under the Articulation Agreement, Maestro will not charge tuition for the UPI Study courses it recognizes as credit. You complete the courses affordably through UPI Study, then transfer them — reducing both your tuition cost and your time to graduation.
How do I submit my UPI Study transcript to Maestro?
Once you complete your courses, UPI Study sends your official transcript directly to Maestro University's designated email and mailing address. To have credit applied, you must be enrolled at Maestro as a student in good standing and meet program requirements.
What happens if a course shows as a "General Elective"?
A General Elective still counts toward your Maestro degree as elective credit. Maestro awarded direct course equivalencies for many UPI Study courses and elective credit for the rest — both reduce the number of courses you need to complete at Maestro.
How long does it take to complete a UPI Study course?
Most students finish an individual course in 2–6 weeks studying a few hours per week. Courses are fully self-paced with no deadlines, so you can move faster through familiar subjects or slow down during busy periods.
Can I earn college credit without enrolling in a degree first?
Yes. You can take individual UPI Study courses and earn ACE & NCCRS-recommended credit independently — no application or admission process to begin — then transfer them to Maestro when you enroll.
How much can I save by transferring credits to Maestro?
UPI Study courses cost a fraction of traditional per-credit tuition. By completing ACE & NCCRS-recommended courses through UPI Study and transferring them to Maestro — which doesn't charge tuition for recognized credits — students can save significantly and graduate sooner. Many employers also reimburse $1,000–$3,000/year for ACE coursework.
