FAQ

Common Questions Answered.

Everything you need to know about UPI Study credits, pricing, and how they transfer to University of Management and Technology.

Does University of Management and Technology officially accept UPI Study credits?
Yes — University of Management and Technology and UPI Study have an active transfer credit pathway. UMT evaluates UPI Study credits through their ACE & NCCRS recommendations, the same standards used for CLEP and military training evaluations. You can view the official agreement here and use the equivalency table on this page to match your specific courses before enrolling.
Is UMT accredited?
Yes. UMT is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accreditor. UMT is also an institution member of the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a member of NC-SARA, authorized to enroll F-1 international students by US Dept of Homeland Security, authorized to participate in Title IV Federal Student Aid programs, and approved to offer GI Bill® educational benefits.
What programs does UMT offer that pair well with UPI Study credits?
UMT offers undergraduate and graduate programs in business, technology, health sciences, project management, criminal justice, homeland security, and cybersecurity. UPI Study courses align particularly well with UMT's business core (MGT, MKT, ACCT, FIN, ECON), computer science track (CST 125, 210, 222, 310, 315, 320, 400, 415, 460), and gen ed requirements (math, sciences, psychology, sociology, criminology, English). 39 UPI Study courses map directly to a specific UMT course code, and the rest transfer as general electives.
Why does Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 transfer as 3 credits instead of 4?
Per the signed transfer agreement, any 4-credit UPI Study course transfers to UMT as a 3-credit course. This applies to Math 165 (Calculus 1) and Math 265 (Calculus 2), which transfer to UMT as MATH 210 and MATH 211 respectively, both worth 3 credits at UMT. The savings calculator on this page reflects the 3-credit UMT value automatically.
What if my UPI Study course isn't in the direct equivalency table?
If a UPI Study course isn't listed with a specific UMT course code, it transfers to UMT as General Elective credit. This means the credit still counts toward your UMT degree — it just fills your elective requirement rather than a major-specific course. Most UMT degrees include 30–45 credits of electives, so general elective transfers are valuable for accelerating your degree timeline.
Is UMT a good fit for working professionals, military, or veterans?
UMT was built specifically for working professionals. UMT has supported 24,000+ students from 89 countries since 1998, with a focus on military service members, veterans, first responders, and career changers. UMT is approved to offer GI Bill® educational benefits, participates in Title IV federal student aid programs, and accepts credits from ArmyIgnitED and AF COOL funding. Combined with UPI Study's self-paced, deadline-free approach to building transferable credits, UMT is one of the strongest pathways for adults balancing service, work, and degree completion.
Does UMT have rolling enrollment, or do I have to wait for a semester?
UMT offers open year-round enrollment for most students, with frequent start dates. Federal financial aid (FSA) and F-1 international students follow a semester-based schedule. Because UPI Study courses have no fixed start or end dates, you can earn transferable credits any time before, during, or after applying to UMT — so you arrive ready to enroll without waiting on a calendar.
Can I earn college credit without enrolling in a full degree program?
Yes. UPI Study allows you to take individual courses and earn ACE and NCCRS-recommended college credit completely independently — no university enrollment, no application, no admission process required. Complete the courses, get your official transcript, then submit it to UMT for credit evaluation.
How do I check which UPI Study courses transfer to UMT?
Use the equivalency table on this page. Search by course name, subject area, or UMT course code to find exact matches. Courses showing a specific UMT course code transfer directly. Courses listed as "Open Electives" count toward your elective credit requirements. When in doubt, book a call with our team — we'll walk you through your specific degree plan.
What's the difference between ACE and NCCRS credit recommendations?
ACE (American Council on Education) evaluates non-traditional learning and recommends credit to colleges and universities. NCCRS (National College Credit Recommendation Service), operated by the New York State Education Department, does the same. Both are nationally recognized standards — the same evaluation system used by CLEP, DSST, and military training programs. UPI Study courses carry recommendations from both bodies.
How long does it take to complete a UPI Study course?
Most students complete individual courses in 2–6 weeks studying a few hours per week. Because there are no deadlines, you can move faster through subjects you already know, or slow down during busy periods — without any penalty.
How does UPI Study compare to taking courses at a community college?
Community college typically costs $300–$600 per credit hour, requires fixed class schedules, and involves semester deadlines. UPI Study offers ACE & NCCRS-recommended credits from $42/month (US) or $250/course (international) with no deadlines, no fixed class times, and no campus required.
Can military students or first responders use UPI Study?
Yes — military students and first responders (police, fire, EMS) are some of our most active members. UPI Study credits use the same ACE and NCCRS standards as military training evaluations and can be stacked with existing military training credits on a single Excelsior OneTranscript. US citizens and military personnel have access to subscription plans starting from $89/month with no additional fees for course materials.
Is UPI Study a good option for adult learners returning to school?
It's one of the best options available. UPI Study is fully self-paced with no deadlines — adult learners with jobs and families can study whenever they have time, pause when they don't, and pick back up without penalty. Most adult learners complete 6–12 courses in their first year around their existing lives.
What happens if I need to pause or cancel my subscription?
You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time with no penalty and no questions asked. Credits you've already earned remain valid permanently. If you pause and return later, you pick up exactly where you left off.
How many credits can I earn through UPI Study?
Up to 90 ACE and NCCRS-recommended credits — the equivalent of two full years of traditional college. Combined with other ACE/NCCRS sources like CLEP exams, DSST, or military training, many students build 70–90+ total credits before enrolling in university.
