Business Essentials is an introductory course that explains how businesses work and why they make the decisions they do. It covers core ideas such as supply and demand, business ownership, leadership, operations, ethics, and how companies respond to customers, workers, competitors, and government policy.
Business Essentials (Business 100) is a 3-credit course with video-based instruction, quizzes, assignments, attendance, and a final exam weighted 25% each. After you complete the course, the transcript can be sent for review, and Indiana Tech may apply it as BA EL – Business Elective, which counts as elective credit in your degree plan.
The course gives you a practical foundation in how businesses make decisions about customers, workers, competition, and policy, which can help in jobs that involve operations, service, or management. At Indiana Tech, that credit can support programs such as Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science by filling elective space while you continue working toward the degree requirements.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent for transfer review, and Indiana Tech considers curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better. If accepted, the course is applied as BA EL – Business Elective, which means it counts toward your total credit hours and elective requirements at Indiana Tech. That can help you move through a degree plan more efficiently in programs like Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science. Indiana Tech accepts up to 90 transfer credits, or 75% of a degree, so this course can be one part of a larger transfer strategy.
This course is a good fit if you are planning to transfer to Indiana Tech and want a course that can count as BA EL – Business Elective rather than a major-specific requirement. It may also help if you are trying to stay within Indiana Tech’s transfer limit of up to 90 credits, since elective credit can make better use of the credits you bring in. It is not the best choice if you need a course that is already tied to a specific Indiana Tech major requirement.
Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech) is HLC-accredited and accepts transfer credit from both regionally and nationally accredited institutions. Curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better is considered for credit.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
