Financial Management is the study of how organizations plan, use, and protect money. It covers how businesses read financial statements, decide whether an investment is worth making, choose between financing options, and manage risk so they can meet their goals. The course also introduces the financial system around the business, including markets, institutions, and the role of the financial manager.
Financial Management is a 3-credit course with attendance, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam each worth 25% of the grade. The course content is delivered through online study of financial statements, investment decisions, financing choices, and risk management. When you finish and your transcript is reviewed by Indiana Tech, the credit is recognized as BA EL – Business Elective, which applies as elective credit toward your program.
The course builds practical skills in reading financial statements, comparing investment options, and planning around budget and cash flow decisions. At Indiana Tech, that elective credit can support degree progress in programs such as Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science by helping you move through required credit hours without adding unnecessary coursework. Those skills also matter in jobs where you need to understand how money decisions affect risk and planning.
After you complete the course, the transcript is sent for review and Indiana Tech applies the credit as BA EL – Business Elective if the coursework meets its transfer standards. Because this is an elective equivalency, it counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements rather than a specific major course. Indiana Tech accepts transfer credit from regionally and nationally accredited institutions, and curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better is considered for credit. Keep in mind that transfer credit is limited to 90 credits, or 75% of the degree.
This course fits students who want a business-related credit that can transfer to Indiana Tech as BA EL – Business Elective and count toward elective requirements. It is a sensible choice for people working toward an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science who need flexible transfer credit, especially when staying within Indiana Tech's limit of up to 90 transferable credits. It is not the best fit if you need a course that will automatically satisfy a specific major requirement rather than an elective.
Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech) is HLC-accredited and accepts transfer credit from both regionally and nationally accredited institutions. Curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better is considered for credit.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
