Introduction to Java is a first course in computer programming using the Java language. It teaches you how to write simple programs, use variables and data types, make decisions with conditionals, repeat tasks with loops, and organize code into functions and classes. It also introduces basic problem solving, arrays, input and output, and the foundations of object-oriented programming.
Introduction to Java is built around video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam, with grading split 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. As you finish the course, the completed transcript can be sent to Indiana Tech, where it is recognized as APP EL – Applied Elective, an elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
This course gives you a practical base in Java programming, including variables, loops, conditionals, arrays, and basic object-oriented design. At Indiana Tech, that learning can support progress in programs such as the Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science because the credit applies as APP EL – Applied Elective within the elective portion of the degree plan.
After you complete the course, the transcript is sent to Indiana Tech for review. Indiana Tech applies curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better, and this course is recognized there as APP EL – Applied Elective. That means the credit counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements in your Indiana Tech degree plan, including programs such as the Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science. Indiana Tech allows up to 90 credits, or 75%, to transfer, so this course should be viewed as part of that overall limit rather than a guarantee of full-degree coverage.
This is a reasonable choice for students who want to move a programming course toward Indiana Tech and need credit that can fit as APP EL – Applied Elective. It may suit degree-completion students or career changers who are building toward an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science, especially if they are watching transfer limits and want coursework that can count as elective credit. It is not the right fit if you need a course that transfers as a specific major requirement rather than an elective equivalency.
Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech) is HLC-accredited and accepts transfer credit from both regionally and nationally accredited institutions. Curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better is considered for credit.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Indiana Tech.
