Business Math is the use of everyday mathematics in business settings. It covers topics like percentages, fractions, decimals, graphs, equations, probability, statistics, and basic financial calculations such as interest, depreciation, and installment purchases. The goal is to help you understand and solve the kinds of numerical problems that come up in business and personal finance.
Business Math is completed through self-paced online study with video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam, and the grading is split 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. When you finish and have the course recorded on your transcript, Indiana Tech can review it as MA EL – Math Elective, which is an elective equivalency rather than a direct major course match.
The course builds practical skills for everyday and workplace math, including percentages, interest, taxes, financial calculations, and data interpretation. At Indiana Tech, that preparation can support students in programs such as Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science by filling elective credit while they keep moving toward degree requirements.
After you complete Business Math, your transcript is sent for Indiana Tech review, and the registrar applies it as MA EL – Math Elective if it meets transfer standards. That elective recognition means the credit counts toward total hours and elective requirements in an Indiana Tech degree plan, rather than replacing a specific major course. Indiana Tech accepts transfer credit from regionally and nationally accredited institutions, and up to 90 credits, or 75% of a program, may transfer. For students in programs such as Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science, this can help preserve room for the courses that must still be completed at Indiana Tech.
This course is a good fit for students planning to transfer to Indiana Tech who want a math course that may count as an elective rather than a specific program requirement. It can help degree-finishers, working adults, and students who need a flexible way to earn transferable credit, but it is not the best choice if you need a course that matches a required math sequence exactly. Indiana Tech considers curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better, and transfer is limited to up to 90 credits total.
Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech) is HLC-accredited and accepts transfer credit from both regionally and nationally accredited institutions. Curriculum-related coursework with a grade of C or better is considered for credit.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
