Business Law is the study of the legal rules that affect how businesses are formed, operated, and managed. It covers topics like contracts, torts, court procedures, government regulation, employment issues, and the legal responsibilities of business owners and managers. In simple terms, it helps you understand what businesses can do, what they must do, and what happens when legal problems arise.
Business Law (Business 250) is a 3-credit course with video-based lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam weighted at 20% Quizzes, 30% Assignments, and 50% Final Exam. As you complete the course, the transcripted credit is what Newlane University recognizes as an Elective, so it can be applied as transfer credit rather than as a major-specific course.
The course builds practical legal awareness for business settings, including contracts, employment issues, and how business organizations are governed. At Newlane, that Elective recognition can support degree progress in programs such as the Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts or the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy by helping you move toward total credit-hour requirements while leaving room for other required coursework.
After you finish Business Law, the transcript can be sent to Newlane University for transfer review. Newlane's registrar applies the course as an Elective, which means it counts toward total credits and elective requirements in your degree plan rather than replacing a named major requirement. That can help you make progress in Newlane programs such as the Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts or the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, as long as your total transfer work stays within Newlane's limit of up to 90 credits. Newlane is a DEAC-accredited, competency-based university, so transfer credit is only one part of the plan; you still need to complete the remaining degree requirements there.
This course is a good fit for students who want a transferable business-related credit that Newlane will count as an Elective, especially if they are working toward the 90-credit transfer limit or the 75% transfer maximum in a Newlane bachelor's plan. It can also help degree-finishers and career changers who need flexible credit that fits into an elective slot. It is not the best choice if you need a course that transfers as a specific lower-division business requirement at Newlane.
Newlane University is DEAC-accredited and competency-based — you progress by demonstrating mastery. The entire bachelor's degree is a flat $1,500 total, and up to 75% of degree credit can come from transfer.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
