Business Essentials is an introductory course that explains how businesses work and why they make the decisions they do. It covers core ideas such as supply and demand, business ownership, leadership, operations, ethics, and how companies respond to customers, workers, competitors, and government policy.
Business Essentials is a self-paced online course built on video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Your course grade is weighted 25% attendance, 25% quizzes, 25% assignments, and 25% final exam. Once you complete the course and your transcript is sent to SNHU, the 3 credits are recognized as BUS1ELE – Business Elective, an elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
The course covers supply and demand, opportunity cost, market structures, and how businesses respond to customers, workers, competitors, and government policy, which applies to budgeting, pricing decisions, and reading economic news. At SNHU, the BUS1ELE credit fits into either an Associate Degree or a Bachelor's Degree as elective credit, so the same coursework builds practical understanding and reduces the remaining credits you need to finish.
After you finish Business Essentials, the transcript must be sent to SNHU for review. SNHU accepts UPI Study courses on a course-by-course basis, and the registrar applies the equivalency BUS1ELE – Business Elective to your record. That credit counts as an elective, so it satisfies elective requirements and adds to your total credit hours in your degree plan. Transfer credit is capped at 90 credits (75%), and this course counts against that ceiling along with any other transferred credit.
This course suits adults who already hold some transferable college credit and need elective hours to finish an SNHU Associate or Bachelor's degree, as well as students looking to reduce the cost of their remaining coursework. Because the equivalency is an elective, it is most useful when your degree plan still has open elective slots. It is not a good fit if you need a required business or major course at SNHU, since it will not satisfy those specific requirements, and the 90-credit transfer limit (75%) means it counts toward a total cap that applies to all transferred work.
Southern New Hampshire University accepts UPI Study courses for transfer credit on a course-by-course basis. 46 equivalencies come from SNHU's Work & Life Experience database; the rest are recommended by UPI Study.
This is a verified course equivalency, not a formal partnership. Transfer credits are never guaranteed and are determined solely by the university's registrar.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Southern New Hampshire University.
