Business Math is the use of everyday mathematics in business settings. It covers topics like percentages, fractions, decimals, graphs, equations, probability, statistics, and basic financial calculations such as interest, depreciation, and installment purchases. The goal is to help you understand and solve the kinds of numerical problems that come up in business and personal finance.
Business Math is self-paced and online, and your final grade is split evenly across four parts: attendance, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam, each worth 25%. Because attendance is a quarter of the grade, steady weekly engagement matters more than a last-minute push before the exam. Once you complete the course and your transcript is sent, SNHU recognizes it as MAT1ELE – Mathematics Elective, an elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
The course covers percentages, interest, depreciation, and installment purchases, which come up in pricing, budgeting, loan comparisons, and everyday purchasing decisions. The statistics portion, including averages, standard deviation, and normal distribution, helps you read business reports and data without relying entirely on someone else's summary. At SNHU, the MAT1ELE credit applies toward an Associate Degree or a Bachelor's Degree, so the same skills support your academic progress as well as your work.

SNHU accepts up to 90 credits, or 75% of a degree, from transfer sources, so this course counts against that limit along with any other transferred work.
