Business Communication studies how people share information, make decisions, and work together in organizations. It covers written, spoken, digital, and interpersonal communication, with attention to how messages are shaped by audience, culture, roles, and workplace goals.
The course is self-paced and online, built around video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Your grade is weighted equally across four parts: 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. A grade of C or higher produces a transcript entry that Strayer recognizes as COM100 – Communication at Work.
Business Communication trains you in writing, speaking, listening, and digital messaging, and in adjusting a message to its audience, culture, and role. Those skills come up in most workplaces that rely on reports, meetings, or shared projects. At Strayer, the credit can count toward programs such as the Associate in Arts or the Bachelor's degree, so the work you do here moves you forward in a degree rather than repeating material you already know.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Strayer, and the registrar applies the credit as COM100 – Communication at Work. Because this is a named course equivalency, it matches a specific course in Strayer's catalog rather than counting as a general elective. Strayer accepts up to 126 quarter hours of transfer credit toward a bachelor's degree, and this course counts against that limit. Review your Strayer degree plan to see which requirements this course satisfies and how many of your remaining credits it leaves open.
This course suits working adults, people finishing a degree they started at another school, and career changers who want a recognized credit without paying for a new class. Strayer charges $518 per credit, so receiving this 3-credit course by transfer avoids $1,554 in tuition for an equivalent course. Transfer is capped at 126 quarter hours, so students who have already used much of that allowance should check how much room remains before enrolling. It is not a good fit for students who need live, instructor-led classes or who learn best through in-person discussion.
Strayer University signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (effective 15 June 2025). Its 2026-2027 catalog accepts credit reviewed by ACE and NCCRS, with a grade of C or higher, up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Strayer determines, in its sole discretion, which credits qualify under the agreement and its transfer credit policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Strayer University.
