Savings = semester credits × $518: Strayer's $1,555 undergraduate tuition per course (strayer.edu, 13 Oct 2026) divided by the 3 semester hours one Strayer course equals. Strayer makes the final credit award.
Cybersecurity is the study of how to protect computers, networks, software, and data from unauthorized access, damage, and disruption. In this course, students learn the basic threats people and organizations face, such as malware, phishing, weak passwords, web attacks, and insecure systems, along with the methods used to reduce those risks.
The course is self-paced and online, so you work through the video lessons on your own schedule. Grades come from quizzes (20%), assignments (30%), and a final exam (50%), so the final exam carries the most weight and deserves the most preparation. Once you finish with a grade of C or higher, the completed course goes on your transcript as the credit Strayer recognizes as CIS333 – Network Security Fundamentals.
The course covers how malware, phishing, weak passwords, and web attacks work, along with the cryptographic and design methods used to reduce those risks. That knowledge applies to everyday decisions about account security and data handling at most jobs. At Strayer, the CIS333 credit can apply toward programs such as the Associate in Arts and the Bachelor's degree, so the same material can count toward a credential as well as build practical judgment.
After you complete the course, the transcript is sent to Strayer for review. Under the articulation agreement with UPI Study, effective 15 June 2025, the course is recognized as CIS333 – Network Security Fundamentals, which maps it to a specific catalog course code. Strayer's 2026-2027 catalog accepts credit reviewed by ACE and NCCRS with a grade of C or higher, up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree, so this course counts against that ceiling. Confirm with Strayer's registrar that the credit posts as CIS333 before you plan the rest of your schedule.
This route fits people who already have some college work behind them and want to finish a Strayer degree without retaking network security material they have covered elsewhere. Working adults with limited time and students watching tuition will find the self-paced format and the named equivalency useful; at Strayer's listed rate of $518 per credit, a three-credit course comes to $1,554 in tuition, so transferring it is a real saving. It is not a good match for anyone who needs a live, instructor-led class or who expects this credit to cover a large share of a degree, since up to 126 credits may transfer and this course is only three of them.
Strayer University signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (effective 15 June 2025). Its 2026-2027 catalog accepts credit reviewed by ACE and NCCRS, with a grade of C or higher, up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Strayer determines, in its sole discretion, which credits qualify under the agreement and its transfer credit policies.
