Savings = semester credits × $518: Strayer's $1,555 undergraduate tuition per course (strayer.edu, 13 Oct 2026) divided by the 3 semester hours one Strayer course equals. Strayer makes the final credit award.
Principles of Finance is the study of how money is used, valued, and managed in business decisions. It covers how companies raise and spend capital, how to read financial statements, and how to judge whether an investment or project is worth pursuing. The course also introduces the basic tools used to compare future and present value, risk, and return.
Principles of Finance is a self-paced online course built from video lessons, with quizzes (20% of the final grade), assignments (30%), and a final exam (50%). When you complete the course with a grade of C or higher, the transcript credit is recorded as FIN405 – Advanced Financial Management, the course Strayer recognizes as its equivalent.
The course teaches you to read financial statements, compare cash flows across time with NPV and IRR, and weigh risk against return, skills that come up in budget proposals, investment reviews, and capital decisions. At Strayer, the credit is recorded under a catalog course code, so it can be placed within programs such as the Associate in Arts or the Bachelor's degree.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Strayer, and the registrar applies the credit as FIN405 – Advanced Financial Management. Because this is a named course equivalency, the credit appears as a catalog course rather than as unassigned transfer credit, which makes it easier to track against your degree plan. Strayer's 2026-2027 catalog accepts credit reviewed by ACE and NCCRS, with a grade of C or higher, up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree, so check how much transfer room remains before you enroll.
This course suits working adults and degree-finishers who already have transferable credit and want a finance course recorded under a specific Strayer code rather than as a general elective. Cost-conscious students also benefit, since transferred credit avoids Strayer's $518 per-credit rate, though total transfer is capped at 126 credits (70%). It is not the right choice if you have already reached that 126-credit ceiling or if you need a grade below C to count.
Strayer University signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (effective 15 June 2025). Its 2026-2027 catalog accepts credit reviewed by ACE and NCCRS, with a grade of C or higher, up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Strayer determines, in its sole discretion, which credits qualify under the agreement and its transfer credit policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Strayer University.
