Principles of Statistics is an introduction to how people collect, summarize, and interpret data. It covers the basic ideas behind surveys and experiments, how to read graphs and tables, and how to use probability to make sense of uncertainty. Students also learn how to work with common distributions, confidence intervals, and sample sizes.
Principles of Statistics is a self-paced online course built on video lessons, with graded quizzes and assignments leading up to a final exam. Your grade is weighted 20% quizzes, 30% assignments, and 50% final exam, so the exam carries the most weight and deserves the most preparation time. Once you complete the course with a grade of C or higher, the transcript entry is what Strayer recognizes as MAT210 – Data-Driven Decisions.
The course teaches you to read graphs and tables, judge where survey and experiment data came from, and use probability and confidence intervals to make decisions under uncertainty. Those habits carry into budgeting, reporting, and market research, whether or not you work in a data-focused role. Because the credit lands as MAT210 in a Strayer degree plan, the same skills also count toward programs such as the Associate in Arts or the Bachelor's degree.
After you finish the course with a C or higher, the transcript is sent to Strayer University, where the registrar applies it as MAT210 – Data-Driven Decisions under the articulation agreement with UPI Study, effective 15 June 2025. This is a named course equivalency, so the credit posts against a specific catalog course and you can plan the rest of your degree around it. Strayer's 2026-2027 catalog accepts ACE- and NCCRS-reviewed credit toward a bachelor's degree up to 126 quarter hours, which is 70% of the degree total, so the remaining credits must come from other coursework. Review your Strayer degree audit once the transcript is processed to confirm how the credit is applied.
This course suits working adults returning to finish a Strayer degree who want a quantitative course with a direct catalog match, and cost-conscious students for whom each transferred credit is one they do not pay for at Strayer's $518 per-credit rate. Because it is a named equivalency, you can see exactly which Strayer course it replaces before you enroll. It is not a good fit if you need a credit the MAT210 equivalency does not cover, or if you prefer a live class with an instructor and set meeting times.
Strayer University signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (effective 15 June 2025). Its 2026-2027 catalog accepts credit reviewed by ACE and NCCRS, with a grade of C or higher, up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Strayer determines, in its sole discretion, which credits qualify under the agreement and its transfer credit policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Strayer University.
