Savings = semester credits × $518: Strayer's $1,555 undergraduate tuition per course (strayer.edu, 13 Oct 2026) divided by the 3 semester hours one Strayer course equals. Strayer makes the final credit award.
Research Methods in Psychology is the study of how psychologists ask questions, collect evidence, and decide whether a claim is supported by data. It covers how to tell scientific research from non-scientific claims, how studies are designed, and how results are interpreted. The course also introduces ethics, measurement, and different ways researchers gather information about behavior and mental processes.
The course is self-paced and online. You work through video lessons on your own schedule, complete quizzes and assignments, and finish with a final exam, with grades weighted 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. Once you complete the course with a grade of C or higher, the transcript entry is what Strayer recognizes as PSY101 – Smarter Decisions through Psychology.
Research Methods in Psychology teaches you to tell claims backed by data from claims that only sound convincing, a skill that applies to reading health information, evaluating workplace proposals, and judging news reports. You also practice reading descriptive and inferential statistics and assessing how a study was designed. At Strayer, this credit lands as PSY101 within programs such as the Associate in Arts and the Bachelor's degree, so the reasoning you build here shows up as a named course on your record.
After you finish, request that your official transcript be sent to Strayer. Strayer's registrar applies the credit, which the 2026-2027 catalog accepts when it is reviewed by ACE or NCCRS and earned with a grade of C or higher. Accepted credit is recognized as PSY101 – Smarter Decisions through Psychology, a named equivalency that maps to a specific catalog course code, so it appears in your degree plan as that course rather than as general elective credit. Keep in mind that Strayer accepts up to 126 quarter hours (70%) toward a bachelor's degree, so this course counts against that ceiling along with any other transfer work.
This course suits students who want to finish a Strayer credential at a lower cost and with fewer repeated classes, including working adults returning to school and people changing fields who need a research-literacy course on record. Because Strayer recognizes the course as PSY101 through a named equivalency and accepts up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree, it fits students who already hold some transferable credit and want that recognition documented. It is a weaker fit for students who learn best in a live classroom with real-time discussion, or for anyone who expects a grade below C to transfer.
Strayer University signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (effective 15 June 2025). Its 2026-2027 catalog accepts credit reviewed by ACE and NCCRS, with a grade of C or higher, up to 126 quarter hours toward a bachelor's degree.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Strayer determines, in its sole discretion, which credits qualify under the agreement and its transfer credit policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Strayer University.
