Database Programming is the study of how information is stored, organized, and retrieved in database systems. In this course, students learn SQL and database design principles so they can create tables, add and update data, and write queries that answer real questions from stored data. It also covers how to keep databases accurate, efficient, and secure.
Database Programming is a 3-credit course with attendance, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam each worth 25% of the grade. As you work through the material, you practice SQL, database design, and data management skills that build toward a final transcripted course result. When that transcript is sent to University of Arkansas Grantham, the course is recognized as IS345 – Querying in SQL, a named course equivalency in the UAG catalog.
The skills in this course help you handle data more accurately, whether you are organizing records, writing queries, or checking information for errors. At UAG, the credit can support degree progress in programs such as the Associate of Applied Science or Bachelor of Business Administration, where SQL and database knowledge can be useful for coursework and applied problem-solving.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent for review and University of Arkansas Grantham evaluates it course by course. If it matches, the registrar awards it as IS345 – Querying in SQL, which is a named equivalency and therefore more specific than a general elective. That matters because it tells you where the credit fits in your UAG degree plan, especially if you are working within programs like the Associate of Applied Science or Bachelor of Business Administration. UAG allows up to 90 transfer credits, or 75% of a degree, so this course should be considered as part of a larger transfer plan rather than the whole plan.
This course is a good fit for students who want to earn UAG-recognized credit in IS345 – Querying in SQL before moving deeper into a degree plan. It can work well for people who need a course that may transfer toward UAG's 90-credit maximum and who want clear, catalog-level recognition rather than an uncertain elective. It is not the best choice for someone who needs a non-technical course or who is not planning to meet UAG's course-by-course transfer rules and grade requirement of C or better.
University of Arkansas Grantham, part of the University of Arkansas System, has been DEAC-accredited since 1961 and accepts ACE-recommended credit. Transfer credit is awarded course-by-course for equivalent coursework with a grade of C or better.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
