- Comprehend the main idea and key supporting details in short spoken French โ spontaneous conversation and recorded audio โ on familiar topics including travel, home, food, health, technology, and city life
- Sustain spoken interpersonal exchanges: ask and answer questions, negotiate meaning, and perform role-plays and paired dialogues in present, past, recent-past, and future time frames
- Read and interpret short contextualized French texts โ cultural readings, menus, advertisements, correspondence โ identifying main ideas and relevant details
- Narrate and describe past events accurately, selecting correctly between the passรฉ composรฉ and the imparfait in connected discourse
- Produce coherent written descriptions and narratives across genres (letter, review, short essay) using present, past, and future tenses with correct accentuation and conventions
- Apply the full French pronoun system โ direct, indirect, double, reflexive, reciprocal, and adverbial (y/en) โ and relative pronouns to produce connected, cohesive discourse
- Express hypotheses, wishes, and polite requests using the conditionnel and si-clause constructions
- Deliver a sustained individual oral presentation (5โ10 minutes) on a Francophone cultural or personal topic with appropriate pronunciation, fluency, and accuracy
- Analyze cultural practices, products, and perspectives across the Francophone world, comparing them with the student's own culture (restaurant etiquette, environmental attitudes, regional identity)
- Demonstrate proficiency at the Novice-High to Intermediate-Low level on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines across all four skills
