What are UPI Study UK credits?

The short version — and why this partnership matters for your degree.

🎓
Ofqual-regulated credits
Qualifi is a UK awarding body recognised by Ofqual — the UK government's qualifications regulator. Every diploma issued is independently verifiable on Ofqual's public register.
🔄
One study, two credentials
The same UPI Study coursework is mapped to both US and UK credit systems. Your effort unlocks ACE/NCCRS credits in the US and a Level 5 Extended Diploma in the UK — no duplicate work.
🏛️
Direct entry to UK Year 3
Level 5 is the equivalent of two full years of a UK bachelor's. Qualifi graduates enter Year 3 directly at 30+ universities across England, Scotland, Wales, and beyond.

3
Enter UK Year 3
Use your Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma to walk straight into the final year of a UK bachelor's at any of 30+ progression universities.

Common Questions

Everything students always ask.

What exactly is the UPI Study × Qualifi partnership? +
UPI Study has partnered with Qualifi, an Ofqual-recognised UK awarding organisation. You can layer Qualifi UK assignments on top of your UPI Study coursework to earn a Level 5 Extended Diploma — a fully UK-regulated qualification that opens direct entry to Year 3 at 30+ UK universities.
How much does the UK layer cost on top of UPI Study? +
The minimum additional cost is $600 to cover the UK government regulatory fee. Your UPI tuition itself is calculated on a custom plan based on which courses you take and how many. In exchange you receive two full years of credit toward a three-year UK bachelor's — the numbers work strongly in your favour.
Are these real, UK-regulated credits? +
Yes. Both the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Strategic Business Management (Qualification No. 610/6814/7) and the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Computer Science (Qualification No. 610/6788/X) are listed on Ofqual's Register of Regulated Qualifications and verifiable directly at find-a-qualification.services.ofqual.gov.uk.
Can my UK credits also count for a US college? +
Yes. Because the same UPI Study coursework sits underneath the UK credential, your work also counts toward credit at UPI's 2,100+ US partner universities via ACE and NCCRS recommendations. One transcript, recognised on both sides of the Atlantic.
I'm already enrolled in UK programmes — can I claim US credit too? +
Yes — credits flow both ways. If you're already enrolled in the Qualifi UK pathway through UPI, your study can also be recommended for US credit via ACE and NCCRS at our partner colleges. Your advisor will walk you through the transcript request process.
What university will I actually be able to enrol at? +
Your Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma is accepted at 30+ universities with established progression routes. Final admission is always at the discretion of the receiving university — each has its own entry criteria around English language, work experience, and sometimes a short interview. Your UPI advisor will help you pick the right-fit universities and prepare the strongest application.
How long does it take to complete the Level 5 Extended Diploma? +
Most students complete the diploma in 12 to 18 months, depending on their pace and how many UPI Study courses they take per term. Because UPI is fully self-paced and available online, motivated students often finish faster, while those balancing work or family can take longer with no penalty.
Do I need to travel to the UK? +
Not for the UPI Study × Qualifi portion — that's 100% online. You only travel to the UK if you choose to complete your final year (Year 3) on-campus at a UK university. Several progression universities, including The Open University and Arden University, also offer the final year online so you can complete the entire bachelor's degree without leaving home.
What entry requirements do I need to start? +
You need a high school diploma (or equivalent) and English language proficiency. There are no SAT, ACT, or IELTS requirements to begin the UPI Study × Qualifi pathway. UK universities at the Year 3 progression stage may have their own English language requirements, which your UPI advisor will outline based on your target institution.
Will my final UK degree be the same as one earned by a UK student? +
Yes. The bachelor's degree is awarded by the UK university, not by UPI or Qualifi. Once you progress into Year 3 and complete your final year, you receive the same degree certificate as any other student at that university — there's no asterisk, no separate transcript, no distinction between domestic and pathway entrants.
Is this pathway eligible for student loans or financial aid? +
UPI Study coursework is paid directly and is significantly more affordable than traditional tuition, making external loans unnecessary for most students. The final UK Year 3 may be eligible for UK student finance if you qualify under residency rules, or for international student loans through providers like MPower or Prodigy Finance. Your advisor can walk you through current options.
Can I switch universities or change my mind partway through? +
Yes. Because the Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma is a portable, regulated UK qualification, you can apply to any of the 30+ progression universities once you've completed it. You're not locked into one institution at the start — you choose where to apply for Year 3 once your diploma is in hand.
What happens if I don't complete the diploma? +
Any individual UPI Study units you complete still count toward US credit through ACE or NCCRS recommendations at our partner colleges, even if you don't finish the full Qualifi diploma. You won't lose your work — you just won't unlock the UK Year 3 progression unless the full Level 5 is completed.
Does this pathway work for international students living outside the US? +
Yes. The UPI Study × Qualifi pathway is fully online and available globally. Students from India, the Gulf region, Africa, Southeast Asia, and beyond can complete the entire diploma from home, and apply to UK universities as international applicants for Year 3 progression.
