Intro to Biology 2 is a second-semester biology course that studies how living things are built, how they function, and how they interact with each other and their environments. It covers microbes such as viruses, prokaryotes, protists, fungi, and prions, as well as plants and animals, with attention to body systems, evolution, and basic genetics. The course is a broad survey of life science for students who want a clearer understanding of organisms from the cellular level to whole-body function.
Intro to Biology 2 is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Grades are weighted 20% Quizzes, 30% Assignments, and 50% Final Exam, so the closing exam carries the most weight. When you complete the course, the resulting transcript credit is recognized at Pathways College as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
The course covers how organisms are built and function, basic genetics, evolution, and how living things interact with their environments. That material gives you working vocabulary for health, environmental, agricultural, and other science-adjacent jobs. At Pathways, the credit lands in open elective space, so it can add life-science breadth to an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts without requiring you to change your major focus.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Pathways College, and the Pathways registrar applies the credit as General Elective (Pathways). That designation means the 3 credits count toward your total credit hours and elective requirements, but they do not replace a specific course in your degree plan. Transfer credit at Pathways is limited to 90 credits (75%), so track this course alongside your other transferred work when planning an Associate degree or Bachelor of Arts. Confirm with a Pathways advisor how the elective credit will be placed in your program before you enroll.
This course suits people who want a broad life-science survey at a lower cost, such as adults returning to finish a degree or someone moving into a field that touches on biology. Pathways recognizes it as an elective equivalency rather than a named requirement, so it is most useful when you have open elective slots to fill. Transfer credit is capped at 90 credits (75%), so it is one route among several toward your total. It is not a good fit if you need a course that satisfies a specific major or general-education requirement, or if you expect a course that is not heavily weighted toward a final exam, since that exam accounts for half the grade.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
