Business Ethics studies how people should make decisions in business when legal rules, company goals, and moral responsibilities do not always point in the same direction. It looks at questions such as fair treatment at work, honest advertising, corporate responsibility, consumer rights, and how businesses affect society and the environment.
Business 211 is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, a written assignment, and a final exam. Quizzes count for 20% of the grade, the assignment for 30%, and the final exam for 50%, so the exam carries the most weight. Once you complete the course and earn credit, that transcript credit is what Pathways College recognizes as General Elective (Pathways).
Business Ethics gives you a structured way to weigh legal duties, company goals, and moral obligations when they pull in different directions, and to test those choices against theories such as utilitarianism and deontology. At Pathways, the credit fills elective space in an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts, so the reasoning you build sits alongside your core coursework rather than in a separate track.
After you finish Business 211, your transcript is sent to Pathways College. The Pathways registrar applies the credit as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency that counts toward your total credit hours and elective requirements. Because the articulation agreement with UPI Study also provides elective credit for courses not used for general education or the major, this credit fits into the elective portion of your degree plan. Pathways accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer, so keep track of how this course adds to your other transferred credits.
This course suits working adults who want to apply ethical reasoning to decisions about hiring, advertising, or supervision, as well as degree-finishers who want to avoid repeating coursework they have already completed elsewhere. Pathways recognizes it as a General Elective, so it counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements, not toward a specific major course, and transfer is capped at 90 credits (75%). It is not a good fit for anyone who needs a live, instructor-led class or who expects it to satisfy a required course in their major.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
