Database Programming is the study of how information is stored, organized, and retrieved in database systems. In this course, students learn SQL and database design principles so they can create tables, add and update data, and write queries that answer real questions from stored data. It also covers how to keep databases accurate, efficient, and secure.
Database Programming is a self-paced online course built on video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Each of four components carries equal weight: 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. Completing the course produces transcript credit that Pathways College recognizes as General Elective (Pathways), which counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
Writing queries, designing tables, and keeping data accurate and secure are skills that appear in many jobs involving records, reporting, or software. At Pathways, the credit lands as a General Elective (Pathways), so it can fill elective slots in an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts plan. The same three credits that complete a degree requirement also give you working SQL knowledge you can use at work.
After you complete the course, the transcript is sent to Pathways College, and the registrar applies General Elective (Pathways) to your record. That recognition means the course counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements in your degree plan, not toward a specific course in your major or general education. Pathways allows up to 90 credits (75%) to transfer, so check how many transfer credits you already have before adding this one to your plan.
This course suits students who already hold transferable credit and want to finish a Pathways degree without repeating coursework, including working adults who need to study around a job and people moving into data-related roles. Because Pathways recognizes it only as a General Elective (Pathways), it fills open elective hours rather than a specific required course in your major, and transfer is capped at 90 credits. It is not the right choice if you need a particular database course to satisfy a named major requirement, or if you prefer scheduled, in-person instruction.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Pathways College.
