Educational Psychology is the study of how people learn and how teaching, motivation, memory, and development affect that process. It looks at what happens in the mind and behavior of learners, and how educators can use that knowledge to support learning in schools and other settings.
The course is self-paced and online, built around video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Attendance, quizzes, assignments, and the final exam each carry 25% of the grade, so consistent work across the whole course counts as much as the final exam does. Completing the course produces transcript credit that Pathways College recognizes as General Elective (Pathways), which counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
Educational Psychology covers how people remember, solve problems, respond to reinforcement, and stay motivated, which applies to teaching, training, coaching, and planning your own study habits. At Pathways, the credit fills elective space within programs such as the Associate degree or Bachelor of Arts, so you can apply the material in your work while the credit moves your degree forward. The knowledge carries over to any role that involves helping others learn.
After you complete the course, your transcript is sent to Pathways College, and the Pathways registrar applies the credit as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency. That recognition means the course counts toward your total credit hours and elective requirements in your degree plan, though it is credited as an elective rather than as a named course. Pathways accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer, so this course counts toward that limit along with any other transferred credit. Check your degree plan with a Pathways advisor to confirm how the elective fits your program.
This course suits students who want to finish a Pathways degree with fewer electives left to complete, such as working adults returning to school, career changers moving toward people-facing roles, or students keeping costs down at $206 per credit. Because it counts only as a General Elective at Pathways, it helps with total hours and open elective requirements but will not substitute for a specific major or general education course, and transfer credit overall is capped at 90 credits (75%). It is not the right choice if you need a named course in your major or general education plan.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
