Entrepreneurship is the study of how new business ideas are identified, shaped, and turned into workable ventures. It covers the mindset and practical steps involved in starting and growing a business, including market research, planning, financing, ethics, and communicating an idea clearly.
Entrepreneurship (Business 310) is a self-paced online course built on video lessons, with quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Your grade is weighted 20% quizzes, 30% assignments, and 50% final exam, so the final exam carries the most weight. Once you complete the 3-credit course, the transcript entry is what Pathways College evaluates and recognizes as General Elective (Pathways).
The course covers market research, business planning, financing, and ethics, which apply to tasks like building a budget for a side venture, writing a pitch, or weighing whether a business idea is workable. At Pathways, the 3 credits count toward total credit hours and elective requirements, so they fill elective space in programs such as an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts. The skills and the credit both carry forward, whether you use the material at work or in later coursework.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Pathways College, where the registrar applies the credit as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency. This means the 3 credits count toward total credit hours and elective requirements, but not toward a specific major or general education requirement. Pathways accepts up to 90 transfer credits (75%) in total, and the articulation agreement with UPI Study allows elective credit for other UPI courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
This course suits students who want to finish a Pathways degree with fewer electives left to take, such as adults returning to school, people changing careers, or anyone looking to reduce tuition at $206 per credit. Because the course counts as an elective, it helps most when you still have open elective slots, and it will not satisfy a specific named major or general education requirement. Transfer credit is capped at 90 credits (75%), so confirm that your overall transfer plan stays within that limit. It is not a good fit if you need an instructor-led, scheduled class or a course that fills a required slot in your major.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
