Financial Management is the study of how organizations plan, use, and protect money. It covers how businesses read financial statements, decide whether an investment is worth making, choose between financing options, and manage risk so they can meet their goals. The course also introduces the financial system around the business, including markets, institutions, and the role of the financial manager.
Financial Management (Finance 204) is a self-paced online course built on video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam. Your grade is weighted 25% attendance, 25% quizzes, 25% assignments, and 25% final exam. Once you complete the course and the transcript credit posts, that 3-credit result is what Pathways College recognizes as General Elective (Pathways).
The course teaches you to read financial statements, run cash flow and ratio analysis, compare investments, and weigh financing options, skills that apply to budgeting a household, evaluating a job offer's financial side, or managing a small team's spending. At Pathways, the 3 credits count toward total credit hours inside an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts, so the coursework serves a second purpose as progress toward a credential.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Pathways College, and the Pathways registrar applies General Elective (Pathways) to your record. The credit counts toward your total credit hours and your elective requirements, but it does not replace a named course in your degree plan. Pathways allows up to 90 credits (75%) to transfer in total, so this course counts against that limit alongside your other transfer work.
This course suits adults who are returning to school with some credits already earned, students finishing a degree who need a few more elective hours, and people shifting into a role that involves budgets or financial decisions. Because Pathways recognizes it as an elective, it fills open elective slots rather than a required course in your major or general education. Transfer credit is capped at 90 credits (75%), so it is worth checking how many credits you have already transferred before you enroll.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Pathways College.
