Foundations of Leadership is a course about how people guide teams, make decisions, and influence organizations. It introduces major leadership theories, leadership styles, and the relationship between leadership and management, with attention to communication, authority, and workplace decision-making.
Foundations of Leadership is a self-paced online course built from video lessons, quizzes or an assignment, and a final exam. Once you complete the course, the resulting 3-credit transcript entry is what Pathways reviews, and Pathways recognizes it as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
The course covers how leaders guide teams, make decisions, communicate, and resolve conflict, skills that matter in supervisory roles and in any job that involves coordinating people. At Pathways, the 3 credits land as an elective, so they can fill open elective slots in an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts plan without replacing a required course in the major or general education.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to Pathways College, and the Pathways registrar applies General Elective (Pathways) to the 3 credits. That recognition counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements, so it fills elective space in your degree plan rather than a major or general education slot. Pathways caps transfer at 90 credits (75%), and this course counts against that limit along with any other transfer work. Other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major may also count as elective credit, up to 48 credits, so review your full transcript with an advisor.
This course suits working adults who want management-focused study that fits around a job, degree-finishers who need a few remaining elective hours, and career changers moving toward team-lead or management work. It is a poor fit for anyone who needs a specific named course to satisfy a major or general education requirement, since Pathways recognizes it as an elective equivalency rather than one of its 17 named course equivalents. Because Pathways accepts up to 90 transferred credits (75%), students already near that ceiling should check how many credits they have left before enrolling.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Pathways College.
