Globalization and International Management looks at how businesses operate across countries and why managing them is different from managing a company that only works in one market. It covers topics like global competition, international strategy, culture, trade rules, outsourcing, and how managers lead teams made up of people from different backgrounds and locations.
The course is self-paced and online, built around video lessons you work through on your own schedule. Your grade is split evenly across attendance, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam, with each counting for 25%. Completing the course produces transcript credit that Pathways College recognizes as a General Elective (Pathways).
The course covers how a business's approach changes when it operates across borders, including competition, trade rules, outsourcing, and leading teams whose members come from different countries and backgrounds. Those skills apply to many kinds of work, from managing a remote team to evaluating a market before expanding into it. At Pathways, the credit counts toward the elective portion of an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts, so the material sits inside a degree you are already working toward.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Pathways College. The Pathways registrar then applies the credit as a General Elective (Pathways), which counts toward your total credit hours and your elective requirements. Because this is an elective equivalency rather than a named general education or major course, it will not replace a specific required course in your degree plan. Pathways accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer, and the articulation agreement separately allows up to 48 elective credits from other UPI Study courses that are not used for general education or the major.
This course suits people who already have some college credit and want to finish a Pathways degree without repeating coursework they have already done, especially those studying around jobs or family commitments. Because the credit is recognized as an elective, it fills open elective slots, which can reduce how many paid courses remain at Pathways' $206 per-credit rate. It will not satisfy a required general education or major course, and it is not a good fit for anyone who needs a credit in a specific required area or who learns best in a live classroom, since attendance makes up a quarter of the grade. Pathways accepts up to 90 transfer credits (75%), so plan your remaining hours with that ceiling in mind.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
