Human Resource Management in Healthcare is the study of how hospitals, clinics, and other health organizations hire, support, and manage their staff. It looks at practical issues such as recruiting the right people, writing job roles, training employees, handling compensation, and following healthcare laws and ethical rules. The course also covers how HR decisions affect patient care, employee performance, and the overall operation of a healthcare setting.
Human Resource Management in Healthcare (Health 303) is a self-paced online course built on video lessons, quizzes, an assignment, and a final exam, which you complete on your own schedule. Grades are weighted equally across four parts: 25% attendance, 25% quizzes, 25% assignments, and 25% final exam. When the completed course appears on your transcript, Pathways recognizes the 3 credits as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
The course covers recruiting, job analysis, compensation, training, and the legal and ethical rules that shape staffing decisions in hospitals and clinics. Those topics matter to anyone who works in or alongside a healthcare organization, whether or not they hold an HR title. At Pathways, the 3 credits land in your elective space, so they can strengthen an Associate degree or a Bachelor of Arts plan that already includes a healthcare-related focus or a separate career goal.
Once you complete the course, your transcript is sent to Pathways College. The Pathways registrar then applies the credit as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency that counts toward your total credit hours and your elective requirements. Within your degree plan, that means the 3 credits fill elective space rather than a specific major or general education slot. Transfer credit at Pathways is capped at 90 credits, and this course counts toward that ceiling along with any other transferred work, so review your remaining allowance with a Pathways advisor before you enroll.
This course suits students who work in healthcare or plan to, and who want a working understanding of how organizations hire and manage staff. It also fits students finishing an Associate degree or Bachelor of Arts who need elective credit and want a transferable option at a lower cost. Because Pathways recognizes it as General Elective, not as a named major or general education course, it will not replace a required course in your program. Students who need a specific clinical skills course, or who need a credit that meets a particular requirement, should look elsewhere. Transfer is capped at 90 credits, or 75%, so students near that limit should confirm how much room remains before enrolling.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Pathways College.
