Introduction to HTML and CSS is a course about how web pages are built and styled. Students learn the basic structure of HTML, how CSS controls appearance, and how the internet pieces together web content through things like URLs, DNS, and web domains.
Introduction to HTML and CSS is a self-paced online course built around video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. Your grade is split evenly across 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam. When you complete the course, its 3 credits appear on your transcript, and Pathways College recognizes them as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency that counts toward total credit hours and elective requirements.
The course teaches how HTML structures a page, how CSS controls its appearance, and how URLs, DNS, and web domains connect content to the internet. Those skills apply directly to building, updating, or managing websites in many jobs. At Pathways, the 3 credits fill elective space in programs such as the Associate degree or Bachelor of Arts, so the learning counts toward a degree you are already working toward.
After you finish the course, UPI Study sends your transcript to Pathways College. The Pathways registrar applies the credit as General Elective (Pathways), an elective equivalency that counts toward your total credit hours and elective requirements. Pathways accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer, so these 3 credits count against that ceiling along with any other transferred work. Speak with a Pathways advisor to confirm how this elective fits your specific Associate degree or Bachelor of Arts plan.
This course fits students who are finishing a degree at Pathways and want to cover elective requirements with transferable credit at a lower cost. Working adults returning to school, career changers moving toward web-related work, and cost-conscious students tend to benefit most. Because the credit is recognized as a general elective rather than a specific major or general education course, it will not satisfy required courses in those areas. It is also not the right choice for anyone who needs a full programming sequence or a course that meets a specific major requirement. Keep in mind that Pathways accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer, and this course counts toward that total.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Pathways College.
