Business Math is the use of everyday mathematics in business settings. It covers topics like percentages, fractions, decimals, graphs, equations, probability, statistics, and basic financial calculations such as interest, depreciation, and installment purchases. The goal is to help you understand and solve the kinds of numerical problems that come up in business and personal finance.
Business Math is a self-paced online course, so you work through video lessons on your own schedule and complete the quizzes, assignments, and final exam as you go. Your grade is weighted 25% Attendance, 25% Quizzes, 25% Assignments, and 25% Final Exam, so steady participation counts as much as the final test. When you finish and pass, the completed course appears on your transcript, and that transcript entry is what Pathways College recognizes as MAT110 – Business Math.
The course builds working skill with percentages, discounts, interest, depreciation, installment purchases, and basic statistics, the kind of arithmetic that comes up in pricing, budgeting, and reviewing business reports. At Pathways, the credit counts toward MAT110 in both the Associate degree and the Bachelor of Arts, so the skills you practice also reduce the number of courses you need to take in your degree plan. Completing it early can free space in your schedule for courses that are not covered by transfer credit.
After you finish Business Math, request that your transcript be sent to Pathways College. The Pathways registrar reviews the record and applies the credit as MAT110 – Business Math under the named equivalency, so you do not need to request a separate course-by-course evaluation. Confirm with your advisor how MAT110 fits into your specific Associate degree or Bachelor of Arts plan, since the equivalency counts toward your program as a catalog course. Pathways accepts up to 90 credits (75%) in transfer, so keep track of your total transfer credits as you add courses.
This course suits people who want to bring existing credit to Pathways without repeating a quantitative course they have already learned in practice, including working adults, students returning to finish a degree, and people changing careers who need a practical math foundation. Because Pathways treats the course as a named equivalent, you can plan around MAT110 directly, and the 90-credit transfer ceiling (75% of a degree) means this course fits inside a larger transfer plan. It is not a good choice if your Pathways degree plan does not include MAT110, if you need a higher-level math course than business arithmetic and statistics, or if you cannot commit to the attendance and quiz components that make up half of your grade.
Pathways College signed an articulation agreement with UPI Study (July 2025): 17 named course equivalents, plus elective credit for other UPI Study courses not used for general education or the major, up to 48 credits.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Pathways College's Registrar reviews and grants transfer credit under Pathways' policies.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to Pathways College.
