UoPeople is tuition-free, but charges a $120 per-course assessment fee for undergraduate courses. Savings = transferred credits × $40 (the per-credit equivalent of UoPeople's $120 assessment fee for a 3-credit course). UoPeople credit awards subject to their evaluation policy.
Programming in Python is an introduction to writing instructions that a computer can follow. In this course, students learn Python syntax, how to work with data, make decisions with code, repeat tasks with loops, and organize programs with functions and modules. It also covers basic problem-solving ideas used in computer science, such as search, sorting, and recursion.
Programming in Python is a 3-credit course with video lessons, quizzes, assignments, and a final exam. The grading is 20% Quizzes, 30% Assignments, and 50% Final Exam, so students are assessed throughout the course rather than only at the end. When the course is completed and the transcript is sent, University of the People recognizes it as CS 1102 – Programming 1.
The skills in this course help students write and understand basic Python code for tasks such as working with data, making decisions, repeating steps, and organizing programs. At University of the People, that credit can support progress in programs such as the Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science, where CS 1102 – Programming 1 may fit into the degree plan.
After you finish the course, your transcript is sent to University of the People for review. UoPeople evaluates the transcript and applies the course as CS 1102 – Programming 1, which is a named course equivalency rather than a vague elective match. That matters because it tells you exactly where the credit fits in the degree plan for programs such as the Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science. UoPeople allows up to 90 transfer credits, or 75% of a degree, so this course can help you move through the remaining requirements while staying within that limit.
This course is a good fit for students who want a clear path into University of the People and need a course that carries a named equivalency, CS 1102 – Programming 1. It is often useful for people working toward degree completion or planning a transfer with the 90-credit maximum in mind, especially if they want to make efficient use of transfer credit. It is not the best choice for someone who does not need Python or who is not planning to use the credit at UoPeople.
University of the People is the world's first non-profit, tuition-free, WASC-accredited online university. Its team evaluates your transcript for you, and you only pay a small per-course assessment fee — no tuition.
Transfer credits are never guaranteed. Final credit awards are determined solely by the receiving university's registrar.
Enroll for $250 (or use a UPI Study subscription), finish in 28–30 days, and transfer 3 credits to University of the People.
